Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment

teacher questions.

What type of credentials are required?
According to Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, all dual enrollment instructors must have at least a Master's Degree. UNO departments reserve the right to exceed those guidelines in certain circumstances. UNO departments need to see a resume, transcripts and syllabi. Some departments may like to see sample tests, quizzes or other examples of student work.
Are there benefits for teachers who participate?
Each teacher will be considered an adjunct professor and will have access to the Library, Blackboard and professional development opportunities with colleagues.
What extra work is required?
The only requirement that is asked of instructors is to submit grades through the university grading system, E-BRUNO. Training will be provided and will take only minutes.
Why would a student want to participate in Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment allows a student to receive credit for the full year, whereas the AP Exam is a one time exam at the end of the year.
Are there scholarships available for me to take graduate coursework at UNO?
UNO Departments have the ability to offer scholarships for teachers to take master's level classes in their area of interest. The amount of scholarship funds varies by department.
Can the university department change the course material?
No, the AP curriculum is set and the university department can only provide enhancements to the curriculum. Slight modifications can be offered as long as it falls within the AP curriculum.
Will this discourage my students from taking the AP exam?
Hopefully not. The fee that is charged to each student includes the cost of the AP exam. The school districts can require the AP exam if they choose to do so.
